The Ladles Aid society of the First
Presbyterian church was beautifully
entertained on Monday afternoon by
Mrs. Wi A. Speer. Mrs. Muldrow,
tho president presided and eada; com "

the society to bc up to an (unusual
high standard of work. Later Mrs.
Speer served an elegant salad course:

Woman's Missionary " society, about
two hundred women WCTO present.
Tho president, Mrs. Milford, presid
ed, and, after a tiJort business ses
sion, she introduced Dr. -White who
gave a most splendid address on "Tba
Place and Importance of thc Average
Baptist Woman." He paid a beauti
ful tribute to tho late Miss Fannie E.
Hock, who was his personal friend
and had been such a help to him in
tho state missionary work of North
Carolina. He spoke of tho emphasis,
che placed upon tho importance ot the
work the average woman could do,
and how she had planned and prayed
that tho women might realize Vals.
Dr. White stressed the fact that
Christianity and missionary endeavor

each woman In the churd'.i- find her
sphere for service and go to w?rk fdr'

State Mission Day was celebrated
by aa'all day meeting on the 30 th of
September. & Although the day was
unfavorable,-Quite a number of the wo

state missions by Dr, Jno. E. White.

and season with salt cayenne and
moisten with a few drops of olive oil.
Add six stuffed oliven, finely chop
ped, spread the mixture on thin slices
of bread, with a crisp lettuce lead be
