Mr. E. C. McCantB, superintendent
of thc city schools, has received a
letter from Prof. W. H. Hand, state
Inspector of high srihoots, In which
thc latter states that he is desirous
of holding a conference cf high school
teachers from Anderson, Oeonee, rick
en* and Greenville counties and
slates also that he would like to hold
it in Anderson if il is suitable. If
it is not ;eld in this city lt will bc
held In Greenville. It is suggests^

day night, Saturday morning an<;

Prof. Hand also has written a let

year is seven mills as compared with
six last. Tho levy for county pur
poses this year ls 7 1-4 as compared

ey to be collected for taxes for all
purposes this year ls $322,700.59.
Last year it wac $273,745.80, which
shows for this year an Increase o?
$42,960.99.
Of the amount of taxes to bo col
lected this year more than one-third
is for school purposes. The .mount
