B I G ATTRACTION
Au b ur n -C lemson Game Will At

Owing to th? short notice, there

guarantors from the ('lemson-Auburn
football game at the meeting which
was to have been held in tho office of
Mr. T. Frank Watkins yesterday af
ternoon at 6 o'clock. This meeting
was to have been held for thc pur
pose of appointing various commit
tees to seo about preparations for tho
big game which' is now Just two
weeks off.
Another meeting will bo held some
time during the early part of next
week, most probably on Monday after
noon.
At tho meeting, which ls to be held,
various committees will be selected,
probably one for attending to thc
advertising, one for seeing that the
grounds at Beuna Vista park are
put In shape, one for the entertain
ment of tile members of the teams
while they aro in Anderson, etc.
These committees will be selected
from among those who signed tlte
guarantee.
Probably nothing more than tho
Barnum and Balley circus will at
tract a larger crowd to Anderson than
the Clemson-Auburn game on Octo
ber 16. This gamo is always watch
ed by football fans over the entire
south, especially the southern col
leges, and its outcome generally de
Irides to some extent tho southern
championship.
The Auburn team ls expected to
reach Anderson on Friday, October
15, and that afternoon they will en
gage in secret practice on the
grounds on which tho game ls to be
played. There will come to Ander
son a large following of the Auburn
team.
The Clemson team will practice on
their -home field the day before tho
game and will come to Anderson on
Friday on a special train with thc
cadets and the faculty. Clemson be
ing so near, lt is expected that tho
entire student body will attend and
this city will feel as if the encamp
ment ?-as on again.
It bas not been determined yet
what social entertainment will be ar
ranged in Anderson for the visiting
teams. If the manager of the An
derson theatre succeeds hi getting
the'attraction. "Peg O' My Heart," for
Saturday night of the game Instead
of the night before as ls the time set
now, probably nearly all of the Clem
son cadets will be allowed to remain
In the city until late that night. For
some time there has beon talk of a
dance In honor of the football teams,
but there is nothing definite planned
yet.

OF GINNING REPORT!
PON PETITION OF NEW
YORK EXCHANGE TO
GOVERNMENT
DROPPED 50 POINTS
I Circulation of insignificant Rumor
Caused Cotton to Be Thrown
Overboard in Panic.
The action of tho market >?sterdoy
illustrates the extremely sensitive
condition that prevails in cotton. On
the circulation of an insignlflgsnt
false rumor, longs threw their cotton
overboard in a panic and a drop of
Ofty pointu in fifteen minutes was reg
istered. Almost immediately however
the market steadied up under good
buying and regained almost the en
tire loss, closing today within five to
eight points of last night.
On petition of tho New York ex
change, the government agrees to
postpone tho Issuance of the ginning
report until Monday, but will Issue
condition report at ll o'clock today.
This petition was based on the fact
that, the storm had isolated New
Orleans from the rest of the world
and lt is problematical as to just
when communications would be fully
restored.
The condition figures to be an
nounced will compare with 73.5 last
I year, G4.1 the year before and 58.5 in
1909. The ten year average is 68.5
Privates OP.: 1m ates published this
week run from 60 to 62.5. Should the
government sustain these figures a
crop of about 11,500,000 bales will
be indicated.
