W. J. Snyder of Greer, a former pastor of Ilothel church in Anderson, was a visitor on the campus Friday. Rev. A. .f. Cauthen, a former presiding elder of the Anderson dis trict spent the week-end with lila sons who are students at WotTord. Dr. A. G. Hembert delivered a very effective address at the college Y. M. C. A. Snyder, the * osident of Woi ford, delivered) an address on, "The Adaptation of tue College Student, to tho New Environment." Dr. Snyder took two points of view. First, "What are the factors in this new environ ment?" Second, "How shall wo adapt ourselves to this new environment?" Tho address was delivered to more than a thousand people. It was in spiring andi full of forceful logic. In the conclusion Dr. Snyder mude a strong appeal to thc heroic and cour age of the students, exhorting them to seek the best and master.lt. Dr. Snyder has boen president of Wofford college for a number of years, and he Is recognized to bo one of tho best orators In the south. Ho is a deep spiritual man and a great teacher, to say nothing of his wonder ful PD\. jr as an orator. Said ex Governor John Gary Evans of bim on ono occasion, "Ho is worthy to bo president of the United States." Mr. Glenn Smith, a former, resi dent of Anderson, now a student at The Toxtllo Industrial Instituto was a visitor on the campus Wednesday. The foot ball season is fast ap proaching. Tito old foot ball players and a number of the new students are practicing evert' afternoon for the coming season. The people of Spartnnburg says that they are glad' to seo the students back again. They say that the town is a dull place without them. A campaign is in progress to en roll overy student as a member ot tho Y. M. C. A. of the college. A largo nnmber of tho new students have already joined. The college ministerial band had ? mooting at which meeting tho'fol lowing officers were elected: Presi dent, E. K. Garrison: vico pr?sident, H. W. Sanders; secretary and treas urer, H. C. Olpaton. The president proposed the dis cipline of the Methodist church south as tho course of study for the first semester. Tho rule passed by the ' student body of Wofford that all Freshman ho required to wear green skull caps has been repealed by the faculty. The Calhoun, thc Oorlif's, and the Preston Literary societies, have be gun work fo- tito year.
