One of Andersons new enterprises. Bt. Mary's hospital, located in North Anderson on tf-.c corner of North avenue and Holly street, has Just been completed. This hospital is owned and will be operated by Dr. C. Single ton Dreedin who had thc building erected under his (personal supervis ion. Furniture and rixtures arc now be ing installed, and patients can be ac commodated In a few days. lt is predicted that St. Mar-'s hospital is destined to become one of the prom inent institutions of Anderson, and many bespeak for il a long and. use ful career in the b?n?ficient work of healing the sick and ministering to tho needs of suffering humanity. On entering the build ing, you pass into the reception room, which is fourteen by fourteen feet, plainly yet comfortable furnished, with large straw rockers. The floor ls covered with heavy deck linoleum, of a dark green color, which corres ponds nicely witli thc palo green cell ing and cream walls. TV.ris room has two large windows, in addition to a large door. To the left ol the reception room, is thc consulting of fice, which is finished throughout in white, the floor being of light oak, highly polished. This room is well lighted and well ventilated, with a private exit on thc terrace, enabling a patient, after consultation, to leave the building without having to pass through the reception room again. On the north side of the reception room, 1B a door that opens Into a large hall which runs entirely through the th'?'lluilding. Tho walls of this nail are beautifully finished in white, the wookwork being of dar! oak, thc flooring of light polished oak. This is said to oe the prettiest room in the building. It has two large windows on the east and one on the south, and a door opening on thc terrace. The woodwork Ls darle oak, the walla old rose and the ce il ing pale green. On going through the ball, on the east side are the private rooms. On the west side, wifl be found the men's and vernen's wards, each ward with an ir dividual bath. The private roomn are handsomely finished, the walls ia cream. tho ceiling light green and the woodwork dark oak. Thc jurors ot these rooms, as well as the Poors of tho entire building, are aicde of riff sawed' pine, finished Jn highly polished 'light oak. These rooms are lighted with a frosted ball In the celling, that furnishes a very soft glow. Next to the women's ward , cornea the women's hath, which contains bath-tub, lava tory and toilet ol white, solid por celain. Next to the women's bath ts the men's bath, and next to this is a closet containing a slop-sink, wry conveniently arranged with racks for bed-pans, urinals and syringes. The northeastern corner of the building ls occupied by the operating, sterilizing and surgeon's dressing rooms. AT BAPTIST CHUBCH Sunday School ls Steadily Growing la Attendance Lately. ' Since Dr. John E. White has come to Anderson there has been a steady increase in the attendance at tho Sunday school at the First Baptist church," stated Dr. A. Lr. 'Smetbers, superintendent yesterday. "Last Sunday we had 671 pupils present and this coming Sundsy we want sn attendance of 725. Tell the people to be sure to attend." the hospital is the arrangement of the quarters for colored ipeople, which oc cupy the northwestern corner of the building. These quarters are com pletely Isolated from the rest of the hospital, and the nurses have only tc supervise the administration of medi cines to the' colored patients-other wise, the colored patients will be lu charge of the colored orderly-nurse. The plumbing in St. Mary's hospi tal ls said to be the best to be found In any hospital on the state. The contract for a modern - steam heating plant has been let. The hos pital ls almost completely surround ed by a brick end stone terrace, cov ered wllth removable awnings, which will allow the terrace to be made into a delightful sun-parlor for thc patient's or a shaded, commodious porch st will. Anderson Is to bc congratulated on this important addition to her insti tutions devoted to the public weal.
