Nt?ws reached the ' city yesterday j morning of the death in Iva of Mr. George M. - Burdetts one of the most widely known and highly re spooled citizens of that section of the county, whicH'occurred on Friday af ternoon at 1:30. Funeral services were held yesterday morning at 10:30 at his late residence in Iva and inteifnicnt was made immediately af terwards in the Iva cemetery. Mr, Burdette we? a ^msc;, am' he was buried with Masonic honors. Mr. Burdette was one of the oldest if not the oldest citizen in Anderson county, being 83 years ot age. He went through the civil war and was in some)'of the thickest flglr'ug. In af ter years he engaged in thc mercan tile business at Iva, then know-i aa Cook's station. Severn! years ago lie retired from business and since has spent tho-time quietly at his home.
