hours, they having been stolen from
the place where he had left them.

Late yesterday afternoon Mr. Rob
bins and Deputy Williams rode up
toward North Anderson. and met tho
mule and;buggy, they being used by
four llttie boys, ages from 10 to 12.
They claimed that a man had hitched
up the.mul? Xor.them and had told
them to cse it. The boys' fathers
were notified and a satisfactory agree
ment waa reached.

Merket street yesterday by the pav
ing company, and Mr. W. E. Barnett
foreman, stated yesterday that they
always punned to place 1,600 square
yards every day. This was the first
day that the machinery and force had
been put to placing the concrete mix
ture ?nd everything waa - vorking
well.
Everything is now out ?>* the way
and it is thought that th* ork will
go along rapidly. A torc of about
35 bands ar? being employed in, con
nection with this work and when the
asphalt plant starts operation next
week there will be a total of shout
1700 hands employed.
The laying of the conorc-te was be
gun Just west of the C. & W. C.
raliway tracks and will be carried
toward th? west end of th*^reet.
