1 he following letter lias been re
ceived by liev. J. W. Speakc from
Rev. Q. P. Kirby of St. Matthews,
where Mr. McLendon has Just closed
a very successful meeting and speaks
of the good work done there:
"Brother McLendon has Just left us
and he tells me that he ls going to
you to be^ln meeting next Sunday. Of
course you made inquiry concerning
him before you invited him, but I wunt
to mid my testimony unsolicited. Uod
has laid his hand upon Ulm anti usen
him in a remarkable way. Get ready
for thu biggest thing you over saw
in tiie way of a religious awakening.
"Me's got tile goods," and knows how
to delirier them in a most effective
woy. Like the bur magnet he repels
and attracts nt the same time. He
denounces sin and simmers In thc
most scathing terms, and in purely
unconventional language. He calls a
spade a spade. On the other hand he.
exalts Christ and with the most earn
est entreaty and with inspiring ut
terances lie Impels men to accept
Him. Gamblers have been con verteil
and are praying in public and testi
fying otherwise to the saving grace
of Christ. All li iuds of sinners have
become open and active Christians.
Family altars have been erected, old
scores have been settled; card players
have renounced their cards, and al
together a fine current for righteous
ness iius set in our towu. No one
cnn hear him regularly without being
brought into sympathy with lum. All
who stund by him will be abundant
ly repaid. Wu have the "evidence."
he ha? tho "verdict." I pray God's
blessing upon you und him as you
work together."

SINGING AT OAKWOOD
Wus (?rand Success and Many People
Present.
Mr. Editor: Will say that the sing
ing at Oakwood was a great success
and everyone seemed to enjoy lt to
the fullest extent. We had several
niiulBtors willi us: Re\Urends Sneake.
Hawkins, Anderson and others, which
wa i appreciated by the convention.
We trust these good brethren will bu
with us on many such occasions.
The crowd wus large and good lie- |
havior prevailed throughout the day. j
which Bpeaks well for the convention.
Wo found the Oakwood Sabbath
Behool in full blast. Attendance
about six hundred. That is what I
call a flourishing school. It seeins
to me that Gad ls moving In a mys
terious way In this church. May the
good work go on and on.
It is hardly worth while to say that
too much praise could be given to tho
superintendent In this great work.
His heart is lu his work as the re
suits show it. Hy their fruits ye
shall know them. If your heart is
full of love and work for the Lord
lt will show the results every time.
!."T us magnify God by preaching,
teaching and singing, ali go hand In

and we are all gathered together tn
ono grand reunion, then our joys
will be complete.
