Court of general sessions for Ander ion county adjourned Saturday after noon after a trying week of hard work. Tho court disposed of many ..ases and the work expedlated by the )uslnc8S-likc manner of Judge Sense. The case of Curran Alexander, charged with murder, was tried Sat urday. Thc defendant was foi',Tcl ;uilty with a recommendation to mer ->'. Thp. case was a long one. and he defense was ably represented by Messrs. Dagnall and Frlnce, who were appointed by thc court to defend tho ?risoncr. The evidence in ruse brought out bc fact that Alexander, resident of 'elzer mill village, cut his wife's liront with a razor. The murder was me of the most brutal in the history >f the county. Tho only eye wit less was the ll year old son of Alex inder who was standing in tho door of he room when the murder was e.n icted. The little fellow presented a erv pitiful appearance on the stand nd told a tale that touched the learts of everyone in the court room. Alexander's defense was based on emporary insanity.. Alexander went on the stand and lenied everything, ile asserted that IIB wife cut him and that he did not ;now where thc knife in his hand ame from, and that he had nevbr eon lt before. The caso wont to the Jury after two rgumcnts for the defense and one for he state. The Judge charged the Jury nd after about 20 minutes delibera lon they returned a verdict of "guilty /Ith recommendation to mercy." When the Anderson delegation went to the meeting, they were requested to present a pressing invitation to the convention to come to AnderBo-? for the HU6 meeting. Col. Tom Arnold, proprietor of thc Chick Springs hotel, asked the dele gation to withdraw in favor of his Invitation on the condition ifoat he arrange for a special train to bring tho entire convention to Anderson for one day. These arrangements were made to thc satisfaction of the com mittee from Anderson, and lite Invi tation was withdrawn.
