ALICE NIELSON IS WONDERFUL ARTIST GREAT SOPRANO COMPARED TO JENNY UND AND CHRIS NILSON TRAVELING IN A PRIVATE CAR Get? $50,000 for Five Months Season and All Expense* Paid. Three marvelous songstresses of Scandinavian birth or Scandinavian decent ha^te thrilled American au diences at tlie highest incomes ever paid for such entertainment. First was Jenny Lind, next Christine Nils son, the third Alice Nielson. Thero is something in the Scandinavian race that tends toward; clear, high so prano voiles with great dramatic iiuality. Each of the three singers mention ed was gifted with a wonderful na tural Binging Instrument and their childhood achievements quickly fore told u career vastly more successful than that of the ordinary singer. Of tile three, Alice Nielson is the only oue that was not boru in Scandinavia, but lier father was a Dane and born In Denmark Her mother was of Irish descent and bom in Boston. Jenny Lind was practically un known in this country when P. T. Barnum, In 1850, entered into a con tract with her to appear In not more than 150 concerts within a year and a half from the time Bhe arrived in the United .States. For this she was guaranteed a mininmum of $150,000 and a share in the profits after Mr. Barnum had cleared $75,000 above all o th is disbursements. Jenny Lind sang ninety-seven times and the re ceipts were a little over $712,000. The engagement gabe to both Barnum and Jenny Lindi comfortable fortunes. The guarantee that has been given to Alice Nielson by the Redpath Chau tauqua ls said to be the highest since Barnum's spectacular Jenny Lind en gagement. Indeed it might bo Bald that Alice NeilBon'a contract is more favorable than Jenny Lind's, for she is guaranteed $50,000 for a tlve months season and a share in the profits above a certain amount. This is a guarantee of $50,000 for five months as against Jenny Lind's guarantee of three times that sum for considerable more than threefold the length of time. The contract made by Barnum with Jenny Lind is similar in many ways to that made with Miss Nielson. Miss Lind had all of her expenses paid and also the expenses ot her accom panist,- assisting artists and compan ions. Just so with Miss Nielson, but .shu has the advantage of living in a more -'dvanced age, and therefore the expenses that are to be paid for her include traveling over the entire chautauqua crlcult in a privat^ car, which the Pullman company has nam ed the "Alice Nielson." Ono of tho Items that Jenny I.md. had put Into her contract was that she was to be furnished with horses and a carriage in every place in which the party stopped. MISB Nielsen is to have an automobile. Salts if Kidneys Or Bladder Bother Harmless to Flush Kidneys and Neutralize Irritating Actos.
