Congressman Wyatt Aiken was a
visitor in the city yesterday, coming
down from Sent ca early lu the morn
ing. Ile spent the greater part of
the day greeting friends about the
streets. Ile is looking unusually
well. Tile congressman will probably
be In the elty through today.

CONTEST POSTPONED
O'Neill Orutorical tontest to lie Held
Tuesday.
Thee O'Neal Oratorical 'contest
which was scheduled to have been
held at Belton Friday night was post
poned until Tuesday night. Thc rain
prevented any of the athletic feature
of the day, and lt was decided as
there was such a small crowd in
Belton the meeting shall be postpon
ed.
Prof. E. C. McCants stated yester
day afternoon that the contest- will
be ?held on Tuesday afternoon and
that the regular program will be
carried out. This ls one of the red
letter days of Belton's calendar.

Firemen's Meeting.
Anderson will be represented at the
meeting of the firemen of tho State
In Greenwood May 15-17. Chief Jack
son will attend on the opening day of
the tournament, while Purman Geer,
assistant chief, will go down for the
second day. One of the paid firemen
will be allowed to attend the meeting,
but as vet It 1B not known what day
he will be excused.' It ls probable
that several of the cull firemen will !
