Crawford better known as "Hob" Crawford, died at his home near Re)toil last Friday night after an Illness o? many months, though the cause o?' hin death was heart failure. Mr. Crawford wan one of the brave soldiers in the roar ranks In service at the cl?ne of Hie Civil War in 18GG. He was with General Lee when he surrendered and he wa3 one of the bravest soldiers hi the service. For four iong years lie fought for that which he thought was tIrIiL Mr. Crawford was wounded in the shoul der during the war and carried the b?li in bio body till death. The wound never healed and these long years this bravo man ha3 fought the battle of fate without a single mur mur. He was a soldier of tho cross?a member of the Baptist church?and was 74 years old at hm death. He leaves a heart-broken wife and oever al children to mourn their loss. The romaine of this brave man were laid to rest at CHeddar cemetery Sunday afternoon in tho presence of many cor rowing relatives and friends. Just three hours bcrore Mr. Craw ford died be asked his wife not to re tire as he did not wish to be alone at the close of his earthly Ufe. He wanted his wife, who bad been hia faithful companion for many years to be present at the last call of "taps".
