Our W?shiiigton Special [From Our Regular Correspondent) WASHINGTON Fob. 14, 1885. Tho city congealed i ti arctic weather is making preparation for the coming event, the 4th of March. The Democrats aro pre paring for a groat demonstration and the Ropuolici us are prepar ing to grin aud bear it. Hotel and "boarding house keepers aro pre paring to pack their guests like sardines in a box, and various military and civic organizations arc preparing to entertain their brethren from abroad. President Arthur is preparing to vacate the White ]louse to thc political sue-? cess? r of James Buchanan and Messrs Blaine, Reed, Hoar, Sher man, ET AL may be preparing for doatli, they aro not preparing to admit that the war which their malice and ambition has prolonged for twenty years beyond its heroic term is now a thing of the past. Society, alf o, is preparing to recon struct itself on different lines and different women. Thc Frcling huy8cn,s, Blaine's, Brewster's. Chandler's, with their sattolites and parasites will go. The new society, I imagine, will be com posed in partjof the ANCIENT REGIME tho old residents who have lived in seclusion during the long ascendancy of tho light lingered vandals of tho Grant era and the psalm singing hypocrites ot tho ll a y o s usurpation. Tho so cial tone will dopend much on the Cabinet of Mr. Cleveland, for so ciety hero takes its cue and hue, to a great extent, from those, high in ofllco. It is tho general impression that the next will be a working administration, it cer tainly has a task before it, and it would not bo suggestive of work to seo the houses of the Thurman's Bayard's, and Garland's of tho next administration given over to mid-nights revels, as has beon too much the case of late years in Washington. An extra session ol' Congress is thought to bo very probable, but whether there is an extra ses* sion or not there will bo some thing going on hero after the fourth of March, lt is not expect ed that one hundred thousand office holders will bo immediately turned out. But a now Cabinet with new Chiefs ot Bureau, now chief clerks, and new foreign min isters will be appointed with a* little delay as possible. There will bo some fifty thousand Postmas ters to appoint, and a general and judicious cleaning out of tne idle, incompetent, suporanuated and the merely political rats and barnacles who have int ustriously drawn their salaries from the pub lic treasury for years, and years. Many clerks in the depart ments have been trying to nave their papers, which show that they were rcccommended by prominent republicans, with drawn from the lilcw. Secretary Mcculloch, however has denied their requests and says that he proposes to turn over the liles of thc Treasury Department intact. This, of course, is right, and nothing more. If a clerk ba been rcccommended by Sonator Kellogg of Louisiana, Mr. Blaiuo or Senator Hoar, for no bettor reason than that he is a republi can, and lins done political work for his patron, it is of interest to tho country and to tho coming administration to havo it on re*? cord. AVhen an examination of tho appointment files has been made it will be found that tv majority of tho malo employees have been appointed for political .purposes, and that many ?emodc/j have boon appointod for reasons and purposes npt ot rocord. Efforts havo been made by tho Republicans to show that tho Uiver and Harbor bill this yoar is an almost unprecedentedly bad one, and that it is tlio first grab of tho Solid South upon the Treas ury. As a matter of fact, the most indefensible items in tho bill wore thoso known as tho Eads appropriations, and these have ail been*: erased. Tnoy wore much moro in tho interest of Captain Dads than of tho Solid South. Tho worst River and Harbor bill in the country's history was passed by a Rep iib? Hean Congress and vetoed by Pres ident Arthur. It ls a good rulo to accopt only such medicines a*, havo, aftor long years of trial proved worthy of confidence This is a ORHO whero othor people's oxporionco may ho of groat sorvico, and it has Sroen the oxpoiionco of thousands that Ayor's Ohorry Poctorol is tho host cough mcdioino over lined. Many persons uro possibly unnwnro that thu Chcstuut, Fnglish Ifalnut Peo ?wi, and otbur nut bonring troos will grow rapidly in thin sootion with a littlo attention wliilo they uro young. Ayor's Sarsaparilla is tho best me?ic?uc for every ono in tho spring. Emigrants and travolors will find iu it an offectual euro for tho eruptions, boils, pimples, eczema, oto., that break out on tho ekin-tho effect of di?ordor in tho blood, caused by sea-dict and lifo on board ship.
