article shall not enlarge or diminish iho legislative
power vested in the Congress.

Assassination in I.kxinoton. -?On the night
of August I. George Taylor, n colored man, was
shot and killed in a house six miles from lsiesville.
A jury of inquest was summoned by
Trial Justice J. T Dent. The evidence showed
that the deceased was walking to and fro in a
room where Kdward Joey, white, and Edward
Taylor, colored, were sitting, and that a gun
loaded with buckshot was discharged on the
outside through the open door, The deceased,
after he was shot, walked to a corner of the
room and took up his gun, hut fell from loss of
blood. One buckshot struck Kdward Taylor on
the head, slightly wounding him. The two men
ran out of the housa leaving Oenrge dying.?
They could see no one nnd the assassin remains
