WEDNESDAY MAROH,- 29, 1905. 41"J . Attention, Farmers?-btrong Appeal for Reduction of Acre ago and Fertilizers?-Commttiees Appointed. Ivd. Lodger : .Allow ine a little apace lu your valuable paper this week, to once more call the Allen Hon of (ho lat mors, and bueiuoss won ot all avocation* in our count/,to th-3 cousi Joration'of the groat work; of the cotton growers association. Wo have resolved and pledged uud pledged aud resolved, but now comej the time for action. Let every man lay this matter to hi* heart. Wo do uot believe that thero are many, if any, who have not been advised all along the line of action as laid out by tho hard work of oar ofliceri and writers ?in tho South. And the press of the whole country has come to our aid and done a most valuable work, for us. Now brother farm era, what are wo goiug to do, are we going to act well our part, and thereby prove our honesty and sincerity of manhood iu carrying out the propositions mapped out iu this great movement to a grand success, which is to culminate in our own interest as muck or more than any other class ? 1 j-H us call your attention to tile fact that the manufacturers, the merchants, tho hankers and capitalists, together with tho Ik ht experts in tho cotton business, have come to our help, aud are saying to us. if you wi'l reduce tho acreage in cotton 25 per cent, and tho use of fertilizers the same, wo will stand with you in this fight to tho finish. Now th? reasons for reduction are many, some of which aro :? We now havo a large surplus of cotton to carry ?ver, and to in vest our means in the production of another largo crop makes if almost certain that prices will run low, aud wo will not be able to repay tho bauks for theii loans. On the other hand, if thi May reports should show a re ductionof S.000.000 acres in cot ton, then w? can start ourcottoi holding association at once, au( there is no taugible reason wh; it will not be a complete success Other reasons can be aasignei why wo should reduce the acre age in cotton. The number o acres cut off can aud should b planted in corn, peas, potatoes oats, wheat, etc., and the crop thus made will better enable u to stand for hotter prices for ou cotton, and we'can hold an' onco more force the law of sup ply and demand to control thi market value of our products. In this connection allow us t< name our executive and ware house committees. Ex. Committee:?C. L. Mc Manua, Dr. \V. M.Crawford, W IT I? 1? I .I n nlo T? The above committees wil please call a moetiugand organ ize, and commence their work which will be of wide range, ein bracing all the work of the cot ton association as it affects each county. To them will belong tbo duty to point out the wora of each sub-association, that tin obj?cts sought to be carried oui mav reach all those interested in the whoie county. The secretary desires to say that, for lack of time, he will be unable to attend the meetings ol several clubs, as he has been requested to do. T. J. Strait, Tres. Geo. W? Jones, Sec.
