McMillan, a young white man, killed Peter Jopliu , a negro, last Thursday afternoon, at Jefferson. The tragedy occurred in the store of Evans & Miller, and was witnessed by some half a dozen persons. Both shots took effect, one near the heart and one in the head, and the man died in about thirty minutes. There was no controversy whatever, except th2 words quoted above. Powo this county, there occurred what appears from the facts learnod to be a justifiable homicide. A negro, Murray Campbell, was advancing on Ruben Bull, another negro, wifh an open knife.
