by a colored man on the estate of a deceased
friend. This is the first instance of the kind
under the law passed by the last Georgia Legislature.

month, ordered post offices to be re-opened, as
follows: In Virginia, 48; North Carolina, 50 ;
South Carolina, 9; Tennessee, 28; West Virginia,
6; Georgia, 16 ; Alabama, 14; Louis

In response to a special message from Got.
Jenkins upon the subject, the last Georgia
Legislature, in Maroh, authorised the Governor
to borrow $200,000 for the purpose of purchasing
corn for the indigent widows and orphans
of deceased soldiers, and for disabled
soldiers, and infirm white pcrsous unable to
support themselves.
It is understood that the 8ocrctary of War,
upon General Grant's recommendation, will
issue In a few days an order mustering out all
the remaining while and colored organizations
in service. All officers of the volunteer medical
corps, except those on duty with the Freedtnen's
Bureau, will also be honorably mustered
out on the 1st prox.
