with the minister and a number
of the guests, repaired to the
hospitable home of Mrs. Ethel

The Epworth L, . com
posed of the young petM of our
town, irrespective of denomina
tional creed, under the manage
ment of Rev. N. G. Ballenger
and Mrs. J. A. Peek, who are I
two of its youngest but
most enthusiastic members, is
doing a work and spreading a
Christian influence that could
not be done in any other man
ner. The work, as outlined, car
ries four features, and the social
and religious parts are being
pushed now, by the members,
to a great extent, and the Meth
odist church is always crowded
at their services, which are held
every Sabbath evening from
6.30 to 7.30,
Last Sunday evening a special
programme had been prepared
and the church was packed to
its capacity to witness the exer
cises, and many comnmenda
tions of praise have been heard
since relative to the nicely
arranged and wvell-carried-out
programme.
For thIs meeting the commit
tee had arranged an es~I'ecially
interesting programme consist
ing of splendid music, speeches
and recitations, which were
greatly enjoyed by the large
congregation present. Among
those who delivered addresses
were Messrs. *W. J. Bolt and
Elbert Finley, and their dis
courses were exceptionally fine.
The recitat.ons by Misses Grace
Prince, Mattie Griffin and Meta
Boggs were well rendered and
.elicited much favorable com

Three new names were added
.to the membership roll, and a
.very liberal freewill offering was
.made for current expenses.
Besides the splendid work the
League is doing among the
young people of the town, they
are aiding in the education of a
young Cuban boy who is equip

-people of all the churches of the
town are co-operating in making
- the Epworth League a great
