The Clen The following- will probably be the line up of the Clemson Tigers against David son's strong team on Wednesday of fair week: Cochran, center; Hydrick, right guard; Fleming, left guard; Odom, right tackle; Gilmer, right end; Horton, left end; Capt. Strick Coles, quarter; Lokey, right half back; McFadden, left halfback; Robbs, fullback. Substitutes-Harris, B. D. Boykin, Fur tick, Brandon and Hanckel. Capt. Coles is the only man on the team who ever played on 'varsity for a whole season. Some of the others have played as substitutes before this season, but a few are playing football for the first time in their lives. Capt. Coles, who belongs to the present Senior class, hails from Jacksonville, Fla., though he was once a resident of Colum bia. He is now playing his third year on C cx "STRICK" COLES The Columbia Lad Who Leads the Clemson Tigers the 'varsity. He has always played the end position till this year, and has been ranked as perhaps the best end to his size in the Southern colleges. It was found necessary to use him, because of his su perior knowledge of the game, at quarter this year. He is just 20 years old; weighs only 185 pounds, and is 6 feet 8 1-2 inches tall. He is an unusually active player. As first baseman on the Clemson nine, he is widely known in baseball circles. He ison Team is a brother of Cad Coles, the crack Au gusta batsman. E. Fleming, the big follow from Locust Grove, in the fastnesses of the Blue Ridge Mountains, was a substitute last year. He enjoys the distinction of being the biggest, the tallest, and the best humored man on the team. He has quite a reputation in track athletics as a hammer thrower and shot putter, in which capacities he has won many points for Clemson. Fleming Is 27 years old, is 6 feet 2 inches high, and weighs 205 pounds when he is not fat. If he had commenced playing football in his freshman year he would have been an All-Southern star by this time. He will graduate next year. Robbs, who promises to be one of the best fullbacks ever developed at Clemson, is playing his first year as a regular on the 'varsity. He is a game fighter and a heavy plunger. His development this year has been remarkable. He is only 20 years old, is even. 6 feet and weighs 176 pounds. Gaffney has the distinction of being the place of his abode. He is a Junior. Odom, who is a member of the present Senior class, hails from the level lands of Barnwell, Blackwell being his home. He is playing tackle as a regular this year. Last year he made 'varsity before the sea son closed. He is an unusually clear headed fellow. He has just reached his majority, is 5 feet 8 inches and weighs 165. Gilmer is practically a new man at tackle, but he. plays like a veteran. le is a member of the Sophomore class, and, therefore, will have two more years to play. If he continues to develop for the next two years as he has done this season he will be a star tackle, with a claim on All-Southern. Gilmer is a citizen of Greenville. He is 22 years old, 5 feet 9 1-2 inches tall, and weighs 173 pounds. W. P. White, '09, is well known in track athletics. He has never played football except in class games till this season. The fact that he and Capt. Strick Coles change positions at will shows how rapid ly he has got on to the game. He makes good at end or quarter. He is only 18 years old, is 6 feet 9 1-2 inches tall and weighs 162 pounds. White is a native of Laurens. Horton, who plays left end, is the new est man on the team. He hails from An derson. He is the youngest man on the team, being but 17. He is 5 feet 10 inches tall, and weighs 167. Horton will make a record to be proud of if he continues in the game. Hydrick, right guard, has had strenuous opposition for the position he plays, but he has made a fine record. He is gritty, and can stand much hammering. He has another year in college, and will likely be one of the best men on the 'varsity before he leaves Clemson. Hydrick is a member of the well known Orangeburg family of Hydricks. He is 20 years old, 5 feet 11 inches tall, and tips the beam at 171 pounds. Lokey, the sturdy right halfback, hails from Gainesville, Ga., tnd is a member of the Sophomore class. A grittier player than Lokey can hardly be found. He verily loves the game, and enjoys a scrim mage. He is 20 years old, 5 feet 8 1-2 inches tall, and weighs 171 pounds. R. D. McFadden is not "Doc" McFad den, who was one of the best players on last year's 'varsity. The McFadden who is giving trouble to .iis opponents this year is from Sardinia He is a Freshman, but he plays football like a full grown Tiger. Left halfback is his position, and 'he plays it well. He is 19 years old, 5 feet 8 1-2 inches tall, and weighs 171 pounds. . The substitutes are ready at any time to fill any place that may need them. Harris, a Junior from Spartanburg County. He is 20 years old, 5 feet 9 1-2 inches high, and weighs 161. Boykin. from Boykins, Is 19 years old, 6 feet 9 1-2 inches tall, and weighs 161. Furtick, a brot'er of "Fritz," the great halfback of t vo years ago, is 20 years old, 6 feet ant' 8 inches tall, and weighs 150. Brandon, 'Ov, is from McConnersville, Is 24 years of age, 5 feet 11 inches in height and weighs 170. Hanckel Is from Charleston, is a member of the Sophomore class, and is 19.
